Civia Cargo Bike with Stanton Turntable

OKAY, for RECORD STORE DAY, we put our turntable and vinyl upfront, jacked into Trophy Bikes’ mobile sound system. (That’s Ella and Louis on the platter–1956, Verve Records–featured a stellar band that included Oscar Peterson, piano, Ray Brown, bass, and Buddy Rich, drums.) The front platform on our Civia Halsted cargo bike is a nice fit for the Stanton Turntable.

TWO WEDNESDAYS, 25 April and 5 May. Trophy’s PARK TOOL School will teach you everything needed to tune up a modern deraileur bicycle. These small, hands-on classes run 6:30-9 on two consecutive Wednesdays. Call to reserve your place–215.222.2020.

Join Daily News Beer Reporter Joe Sixpack as we match typewriters from the US, Italy and Germany with craft beers from same, then commence typing–what? Beer reviews, limericks, letters–your call.  If you would like to go on a bike ride to check out the Zoe Strauss Billboard Project in its natural habitat–Philly’s streets… join us on Sunday, 18 MARCH, 11 a.m.   Meet at 30th St. Station by Saxby’s Coffee just off the Main Concourse.

ABOUT: It’s a long ride, but not that fast; if you ride regularly, should be OK. There will be cue sheets and we will stick together. There will be various opportunities to grab SEPTA rail to bail for fatigue/schedule issues!

NOTE: this is a dang urban ride–you should be comfortable riding with traffic, single-filing hinky sidewalks, etc.  BRING: helmet, lock, spare tube (even if you can’t install it yourself, someone can), a red blinky light for the back (yup, even in the daytime…) and a water bottle.  Make sure your bike is in good shape, OK? We will find snacks and food during the day; bring some $, or pack PBJs.  Tough tires are a good idea, too.

Finishes back at 30th Street Station–beers at Bridgewater’s Pub in the station afterwards!

A few Bromptons cap off a row of Jamis Commuters, and next to the "Trophy" sign, a gaggle of Strider running bikes await extreme toddlers.
